4-6-2 PACIFIC
There were several Pacifics built at the end of a 19th century, but many consider the Missouri Pacific Railroads class P-69, built by Brooks in 1902 as the first real Pacific. These nice-looking, well balanced locomotives show their superiority against the 4-4-2 Atlantics, 4-6-0 Ten-Wheelers and 2-6-2 Prairies. Within a decade the Pacific became the standard passenger locomotive, there were only few passenger-carrying roads lacking Pacifics. Until the type was superseded by the 4-6-4 Hudsons and 4-8-4 Northerns, arrived in 1930s, 6.000 Pacifics were made. The last one was made in Canada in August 1948. Pennsylvania Railroad owned the greatest number of Pacifics; 696 (among them 425 were K4s). The model represents an USRA light Pacific, built between or immediately after World War I.
